Our client is a leading provider of Packaging solutions and products and they are now looking to appoint an Area Sales Manager to manage an existing portfolio of accounts and develop new business opportunities in the North East region.
You will be responsible for managing an existing customer portfolio of accounts and developing new business opportunities from both lapse accounts and new prospects. The role is split roughly 50/50 on account management and business development. You will be selling a comprehensive range of corrugated packaging solutions to end users and manufacturing businesses and must have experience in this area.
Undertaking an in-depth familiarisation programme to include the Group, the Division, the company, its philosophies, lines of contact, products, customers, business and operating processes and procedures, personalities, corporate plans and objectives, management and information styles.
Formulate and implement the sales strategy and develop and deliver an action plan, focused on managing a portfolio of accounts and new business development and added value business generation, to achieve targeted levels of sales growth and maximise profitability.
Identify and develop new markets within the geographical area which match the company's manufacturing capabilities and strategic direction, in a profitable and timely manner.
Negotiating contracts and 'partnership' development with customers to promote long term, mutually beneficial business objectives.
Selling original and effective solutions to customers packaging problems through close liaison with Design Technical, Quality and Operations departments.
Gathering and reporting commercial intelligence which ensures early identification of opportunities and potential for new added value business.
Working closely with Design, Technical, Applications, Sales, Operational Planning and Finance teams, to ensure that existing and new business is effectively managed and serviced through the business and that our client delivers an industry leading Customer Service experience.
Producing detailed visit reports to provide account information for all relevant people within the organisation.
Skills & Experience
Possess a proven track record of managing accounts and new business in a field sales position.
Strong understanding of the packaging industry ideally Corrugated having worked for either a Manufacturer or Packaging Distribution business.
Possess excellent negotiating skills and a drive to discover new markets.
Be a self-starter, being highly motivated with the ability to set their own goals and objectives as well as being part of the team.
Have a flexible, enthusiastic approach and possess excellent communication skills.
You will receive a basic salary of circa £30k-£40k pa + (DOE) with Bonus, company car, 25 holidays and other benefits.
