Assistant Technical Development Manager
Our Technical Packaging Team are responsible for providing packaging technology expertise, knowledge, advice, and leadership across all flexible packaging formats. This is to ensure that the client meets its supply (availability, quality, cost and compliance) objectives.
We are now looking to strengthen the team through the recruitment of a Technical Packaging Development Manager, based at the clients Head Office. This role will include a degree of regional travel to manage all UK and European packaging aspects including-
To take ownership and steer the business activity and resource to manage a focused approach to challenges that face the plastics industry in relation to environmental issues and concerns.
Identify, develop and deliver realistic packaging alternatives to meet customer expectations.
Ensuring supply continuity of raw materials and managing risk.
Providing Packaging expertise and knowledge to the two production sites to drive improvements via materials, equipment and processes to ensure optimal NPD developments and launches.
Lead and deliver projects for problem resolution, technical transfer, risk management and cost saving.
Pro-actively ensuring packaging procedures and documentation are compliant with European and local law, regulatory requirements, codes of practice and internal standards etc.
Leveraging innovation from suppliers, academia, innovators etc. in furthering our Packaging objectives.
Be the lead on subject matter, and expert on specific packaging matters in Europe.
Ensuring European packaging knowledge and expertise on material science, processes and manufacturing skills and competencies are transferred within the business
Master's degree, or relevant experience, in a technical discipline e.g. Packaging Technology, Material Science, etc.
Demonstrable and diverse exposure to flexible packaging formats in a regulated manufacturing business.
In depth knowledge and understanding of the regulated packaging manufacturing technologies development processes and the critical interdependent links.
A track record of success in supporting packaging issues across multiple regions, cross functionally, and dealing with a mix of different cultures.
Membership of a relevant professional organisation e.g. Institute of Packaging
