Through understanding our client's range of products and its processes you will drive sales with first class customer service and provide innovative solutions.
Produce and exceed sales and profit growth targets.
Develop and deliver category specific business plans.
Produce new product development and innovation as per business plans.
Monitor supplier base, by liaising with sales teams to identify customers' purchasing patterns. Keep ahead of competition by identifying appropriate suppliers, and negotiating price and delivery.
Keep up to date and ahead of market and customer trends, ensuring product procurement and placement reflects these trends accurately. Be acutely aware and record competitor threats.
Achieve and exceed target procurement prices, rebates and marketing support.
Deal with suppliers in an upfront, honest and mutually beneficial manner.
Attend exhibitions and expertly carry out internal and external presentations of the company's exciting offers on products, expertise and services.
Ensure all customer enquiries and tenders are dealt with in a timely manner.
Assist in resolving any pricing or invoice queries or problems, and maintain spend within budget.
Ensure product supply and quality is consistent through liaising with suppliers and colleagues dealing with any issues that may arise efficiently and effectively.
Work closely with sales and supply chain ensuring end-to-end supply chain costs do not exceed any procurement advantage achieved during price and delivery negotiations.
Ensure all company policies and practices are monitored, maintained and adhered to.
Develop strong and trusted relationships with suppliers and manage relationships critical to the success of the overall purchasing strategy.
Endeavour to be the recognised expert within your sector internally and externally.
Show business leadership and technical competency to assist in the transformation of current buying practices within areas of scope.
Meet category margin targets for new product range launches, innovation and new product development.
Work together with sales team and customers to push sales and profit growth.
Regularly meet and visit suppliers.
Skills and Experience
Experience in a buyer role, either in the packaging industry or other fast paced trading environment.
CIPS qualification or equivalent or working towards would be ideal.
Good knowledge and understanding of purchasing principles and disciplines.
Excellent financial and numerical skills.
Experience in working with Supply Chain, Quality, Sales and Customers.
Customer focussed with excellent presentation skills.
Assertive, approachable and excellent at building and maintaining strong relationships.
Highly organised and able to maintain calm in a fast-paced environment.
Passionate and results-driven.
Good planning skills.
Receptive to new ideas and able to bring your own ideas to the company.
You will receive a salary of £28k
Working hours: 8am - 4pm, or 9am - 5pm
Flexibility available to work from home 2 days a week
